Posted on Fri, Mar 28, 2014

Doctor's Day
Physicians are the cornerstone of EmCare. Not only do we support some of the most talented physicians in the country, but EmCare was founded by a physician. That means that from our humble beginnings in 1972, to our current position as one of the largest physician management companies in the nation, EmCare continues to be a physician-led company.

Our commitment to physician leadership is demonstrated by our programs of continuing education and training to build leadership skills to help our physicians make health care work better across the country.

This Doctors Day, we’re taking a moment to highlight a just a few of our amazing doctors for their awards, achievements and the many ways they illustrate excellence in patient care throughout their communities.

Get to know these outstanding physicians.

Dr Milligan
EmCare IPS, SMD, Dr. Corbi Milligan, was recently recognized as one of Murfreesboro Magazine’s 2014 Women in Business award recipients. This annual award is “an opportunity to highlight inspiring stories of women who were able to overcome obstacles and make valuable contributions to their organization and the community,” said Laura Beth Payne, Community Editor for Murfreesboro Magazine. The Murfreesboro Magazine team was impressed by Dr. Milligan’s leadership at TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center where Dr. Milligan is currently the Hospitalist Medical Director. Dr Kirk JensenCongratulations to our resident leader in practice management, patient flow and clinical care, EmCare EVP, Dr. Kirk B. Jensen, M.D., MBA, FACEP. He’s written many articles and several books on the subject of patient flow including Leadership for Smooth Patient Flow (2007 ACHE Hamilton Award winner), Hardwiring Flow, and The Hospital Executive’s Guide to Emergency Department Management. His most recent contribution can be found in the newly released Patient Flow: Reducing Delay in Healthcare Delivery (free preview here: http://ow.ly/v08Hv).  Dr. Jensen recently collaborated with other EmCare leaders on the whitepaper, “Integration Changes Everything: Communication, Collaboration, Patient Flow, Patient Perception of Care and the Bottom Line” which explores how a shift in processes, leadership and culture to an integrated solution can put your hospital on track to achieve improved clinical outcomes, metrics and patient experiences. And don’t miss Dr. Jensen’s session, “Winning Physician Buy-In” at the 2014 Patient Flow Summit in Las Vegas, NV. For more information, click here: http://ow.ly/v09Y9.

The case that won that recognition? A 66 year old male experienced and recognized the symptoms associated with a cardiac event. Through a series of controlled coordination between the patient, the EMS and hospital staff, the time from symptom onset to arterial reperfusion (SOAR) was only 43 minutes. Watch Dr. Fagan describe what it takes to implement a collaborative program with the emergency department and EMS providers working together to improve patient results.
