David J. Mendelson, MD, MS, FACEP

Dr. Mendelson joined EmCare in 1997. He is responsible for provider education at EmCare for more than 5,000 Emergency physicians and mid-level clinicians. His responsibilities include oversight of medical education, content development and education delivery via Emergency Medicine Education Systems, Inc. (EMEDS), a company he co-founded in 1997. Now owned by EmCare, EMEDS has provided hundreds of thousands of hours of Category I continuing medical education and is recognized as a premier educational provider. EMEDS offers live conferences and online education for physicians, mid-level providers, nurse practitioners and nurses. Dr. Mendelson is also a member of EmCare’s Risk Management Team and developed the concept of Fail-Safes, which are being used in many of EmCare’s client hospitals.
After obtaining Master of Science and Doctor of Medicine degrees, Dr. Mendelson pursued a fellowship in administration. Board certified in Emergency Medicine by ABEM, Dr. Mendelson is the medical director at Baylor Medical Center at Frisco and Baylor Medical Center at Trophy Club. Dr. Mendelson is also the acting Regional Medical Director for EmCare's Christus Health partners including the Shumpert, Spohn and Santa Rosa systems.
Dr. Mendelson is a past president of the Texas College of Emergency Physicians and serves on the board of directors for TCEP. He has served on various committees of ACEP and currently is a member of the ACEP Finance Committee.
Dr. Mendelson most enjoys mentoring and lecturing on emergency medicine, clinical and management topics.
